The University of Rhode Island welcomed the Rhode Island College Anchormen to the Ryan Center on October 26th for an exhibition game. With a final score of 93 to 55, the URI Men’s basketball team is feeling comfortable early in the season. Sophomore guard Tyrese Martin was leading scorer with 22 points accompanied by teammates Junior Fatts Russel and Senior Jeff Dowtin not far behind. 

At the start of the game, RIC held the lead by 1 pt only for 42 seconds. URI responded with a 13-2 run from both Fatts Russell and Jermain Harris. With about 8 minutes left in the first half, URI added another 21 points to make the score 52-23 before heading into the locker room. 

The second half was completely dominated by the Rams. The Anchormen had a hard time getting past URI defense while Cyril Langevine and Dante Tate both controlled the paint and out rebounded RIC. 

The Anchormen were only able to score 9 points in the second half while the Rams were able to pull 41pts gaining their 93-55 win over Rhode Island College. 

URI Mens Basketball will be kicking off their official season on November 6th at 7pm against Long island University.
