KINGSTON, RI

It is currently January 7th, 2022 and Rhode Island Women’s Basketball stands with a record of 10-3.

The Truth is They are a Damn Good Basketball Team.

This season Head Coach Tammi Reiss has proved that statement. Through the first 7 games of the season they Rams were undefeated. Prior, to her arrival into the program, the Rams stood at 24-126 in conference games for the last 10 seasons, and in the last two years three players have gone onto the professional level. These players include Davida Dale, Nicole Jorgensen, and Johanna Muzet. As for current players under Reiss’ coaching. The Captain, Emmanuelle Tahane was named to the All-Academic Team as the first Ram since 2011.

In the Home-Opener, The Rams scored 106 Points VS. Merrimack College. This was the first time the program ever drop 100 Points at the Ryan Center. It was also the largest margin of victory in the programs history.

One would think with all these accomplishments, the team would have better showing of fan support at games…

The sad realization is the student section that is filled during the Rhode Island Men’s Basketball games. Is filled with… Well Nobody. Rhody the Ram, our mascot, seemingly walks around the student section by himself. That should not be the case.

I am writing to you today urging you to support an incredible group of Women, who deserve more support then they get. The seats should not be empty. They should be filled.

The Women will continue to be great and continue to impress week after week.

Quietly making a case that they are the best team on our campus…
